Competition "mtex+ Newcomer Award" started for students, graduates and trainees
The mtex + has put out the competition "mtex+ Newcomer Award 2002" for students, trainees and graduates of the fields of textile, textile technology as well as textile and fashion design. Sustainable ideas for environmentally conscious and economically sustainable action on the topic of recycling - upcycling - downcycling of textiles of all kinds are in demand. Applicants can draw on the results of project work or internships (from 2016).
"In this way, we are taking up the TexCycle young talent competition organized by SACHSEN! TEXTIL eV, Chemnitz, and the industry association Plauen lace and embroidery industry in 2018/2019, and the Association of the North-East German Textile and Clothing Industry e V. (vti) and other partners of the contest, "explains exhibition responsible André Rehn." Closing date is January 31, 2020 ".

The award ceremony of the TexCycle Award 2019 took place during the 60th Plauener Spitzenfest. The winners of the year 2020 will receive their awards for the opening event of the 8th mtex+
These are the winners of the mtex + Newcomer Award 2020
As part of the annual meeting of the Association of the North-East German Textile and Clothing Industry e. V. (vti) on Sept. 24, 2020 in Crimmitschau the presentation of the Newcomer Award of the international textile trade fair mtex +, which will be held in Chemnitz in June this year and will be canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, took place.
In the picture you can see the winners with André Rehn (2nd from left): The jury awarded Ulrike Mutschke, textile design student at the Hof University of Applied Sciences (center), the 1st place. Her work is entitled "Plantastix - Experimental Design Strategies for Bio-based and Biodegradable Plastics". Second came Johannes Leis, a young scientist at the TU and the STFI Chemnitz, on the new method for recycling smart textiles management that was previously not possible (left). The 3rd prize for a Shirin Paul, University of Hanover, for her recycling fashion collection “2 Degrees”, which is part of the sustainability concept. Sören Uhle, Managing Director of the Chemnitzer Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (CWE), presented the prizes run by his company.
